About Mason Via
Mason Via’s latest single, “Wide Open,” co-written with Zach John King, paints vivid scenes of campfires, screen doors, and sunsets over rolling pastures while capturing the ache of young heartbreak. Raised in Patrick Springs, Virginia, Mason draws deeply from his roots in the hills and hollers of southern Virginia to bring authenticity and emotion to his music.

Via explains, “The song chronicles the singer’s emotional state as he reaches back into his memory to recall how much he loved the girl who left him, and how deeply her absence has cut him.” The track carries the same heartfelt spirit Mason showcased on “Daughter of the Highlands”—his standout vocal from the Grammy-nominated album Jubilee.

Featuring Mason Via on lead vocals and guitar, the single also includes performances by Aaron Ramsey (mandolin), Jason Davis (banjo), Jim VanCleve (fiddle), Jeff Partin (bass and resophonic guitar), Kyser George (second guitar), Brooks Forsyth (harmony vocals), and Nick Goad (harmony vocals).

The sound evokes influences of Old Crow Medicine Show, Tyler Childers, Zach Bryan, Flatland Cavalry, Turnpike Troubadours, and Mountain Heart—a blend of heartfelt storytelling and timeless Americana energy.
